Lady Penelope's Lashes

When it comes to reshaping ideas of beauty, there are few who’ve been as influential as the heavenly Penelope Tree. Muse to The Beatles and regular Vogue cover girl, Penelope was once described as “an Egyptian Jiminy Cricket” by renowned photographer David Bailey. With her lash laden, deep set eyes and extra-terrestrial bone structure, there is no denying that she will forever reign as the ultimate 60’s it-girl. Here’s how to recreate her bold, mod hair and beauty look.

Blow dry the hair and ensure it is dead-straight by using straightening irons. We recommend Cloud Nine large irons as they don’t mark the hair.

Cut the fringe dry so that you have more control over the hair and can allow for better definition in the cut. Make sure to taper it around the eyes. We recommend Mizutani Scissors – they are the best.

Holding the CLOUD NINE Large Wand vertically to the hair, wrap random sections of hair in varying amounts around the wand. Make sure to only curl from the mid lengths to the ends – you don’t want the waves and texture to start until its level with the ears, downwards.

To keep the focus on the dramatic eye, this look needs a clean, neutral and well blended base. Hydrate with Dermalogica’s Active Moist for a youthful dewy complexion. Once the skin is hydrated, even out the tone and mask any imperfections with a light veil of MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation.

Next, set the skin with a subtle brushing of MAC Translucent Powder for that perfect 60’s complexion. This will direct all focus towards the dramatic eye.

Complete the look by carefully drawing a clean line just above the eye’s socket crease using MAC Powerpoint Eyeliner in Grey Utility. Then, for the final touch of the Penelope Tree look, apply MAC 43 Lashes upside down just under the lower lash line with Duo Adhesive.
